What Would Really Happen After An Apocalyptic Event?
I love post-apocalyptic books. I’m not sure why. Maybe it was because when I was a child everyone was afraid Russia would drop nuclear bombs on us and there was the whole Bay of Pigs scenario.
People were scared and planning for the worst case scenario. They build bomb shelters in their back yards and stashed food and water.
So I’ve always wondered what life would be like if the world as we knew it ended either by war, plague or sun spots causing electromagnetic pulses and wiping out anything electrical.
The thing I like about these types of stories is how people band together and find ways to survive and in some instances even thrive as they go back to the land and create new communities where people depend on each other and barter is a way of life.
For me, that way of life sounds really appealing. Sometimes I am just overwhelmed with all the things, the noise, the fluorescent lighting and pollution.
However, most of the books have a different theme. It doesn’t matter if it’s the plague or the impact of a meteor and the earth being plunged into an ice age, there are the good guys and the bad guys. The bad guys always want what the good guys have and there are always battles.
