Why I don’t care if my articles are curated.

I’ve written 60 articles on Medium and only two have been curated. I stopped writing on here for several months thinking that what I had to say might not be important or interesting enough. Besides, I had plenty of other things to do!

During that time I kept reading articles on Medium and especially studied the articles with tips about being curated.

A few days ago, I went through an internal shift. I’ve been a hobbyist writer my entire life and I made a commitment to myself to change that.

I want my writing to be my career and that can only happen if I write from my heart. Anything else would be less than authentic.

If I want my readers’ trust, I have to speak my truth whether it be a mainstream truth or something woo woo.

Making writing my career means I just need to write, and I need to do that without worrying about statistics. It’s important for me to believe that what I have to write is worth writing and that I write it from a desire to give, not receive.

I would love to reach a large audience, but if my goal is to write so that I can reach that audience, it changes my intent and negates my personal power as a writer.
