Belly Dance is the Key to a Better Attitude.
And Attitude is the Key to Success!
From day one, I teach my dance students the importance of attitude. It’s important not only as a performer but in every aspect of life.
I’ve had the joy of watching women come into my classes with their chins tucked against their chests, hating their bodies, and then watching them transform into beautiful dancers holding their heads high and gracing the stage with pride.
Attitude defined by Merriam-Webster is the way you think or feel about something.
Every beginner belly dance class has women who think and feel like they aren’t good enough.
These thoughts and feelings don’t just apply to the intricacies of belly dance movements. They pervade the lives of these women.
They don’t like their bodies and don’t believe in their abilities. They doubt themselves at home as partners and parents and also on the job. They often feel like outsiders, like they don’t belong.
Something within them calls them to the dance, a dance that has a history of mystery attached to it.
When they arrive at their first class, I welcome them and begin to tell them the history of the dance and its ancient roots.
